June 23rd  Soten Taiko Drum Presentation  1:00 p.m.

Soten Taiko is central Iowa’s only taiko drumming group. The name of the group translates as “Blue Sky” Taiko. Our goal is to share the ancient sounds of taiko drumming under the blue skies of Iowa.

June 25th  Animal Sounds and Stories by the Blank Park Zoo  10:30 a.m.

We all have a story to tell and so do the animals at the zoo! Our stories come alive with sound and movement as we discover the many ways animals communicate. Join a zoo educator and animals from the zoo’s Education Department during this fun and interactive program.

June 28th  The Words You Hear, The Songs You Sing: Lyrics as Literature (teens and adults)   7:00 p.m.

When we listen to music, there are usually two parts: the tune and the lyrics. The tune can elevate our hearts and souls, but so can the lyrics if we take the time to listen. Whether the songs are from Frank Sinatra or Sammy Hagar, the words we hear can tell a story that can be just as meaningful as the songs we sing.
