The Van Meter Recreation Complex is located on the on the north edge of town along the Raccoon River and offers two softball fields, two baseball fields, and four soccer fields, all with bleachers for spectators. Near the baseball and softball fields, concessions and restrooms are available. The complex was constructed thanks to the hard work of the individuals who volunteered their time with the Van Meter Recreation Foundation.
Johnson Park is located at the end of Division Avenue. The park is owned and operated by the City and offers a scenic landscape, 9 holes of disc golf, a sand volleyball court, and a playground for children.
City Park is located on Grant Street just east of the Van Meter Public Library and offers playground equipment for children.
Trindle Park is owned and maintained by Dallas County Conservation and is located in Van Meter at 3555 Richland Circle.
The park has two open shelters that hold approximately 50 people each. One of the shelters has electric outlets, but no lights and the other has neither. There are also grills available for cooking.
Both can be reserved for $25/day each by calling 515-465-3577 or emailing them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Park gates open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m.
