The Mission of the Van Meter Police Department is to work with the community through partnerships to enhance the quality of life in our city and in accordance with constitutional rights to enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce fear, and provide for a safe environment to live and raise families.

Community Policing Philosophy
Community Policing is a philosophy, management style and organizational strategy that permeates the organizational culture to promote proactive problem-solving and police community partnerships to address the cause of crime and fears as well as other community issues affecting the quality of life in the community
Chief (Director) Daggett currently serves as the Police Chief and Director of Public Safety. He has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of the Ozarks and a Masters in Public Administration from Drake University. He holds certification as a Certified Public Manager. Chief Daggett has served 27 years in the public safety field as a police officer, firefighter and emergency medical technician. He believes in a strong community policing philosophy and strives to provide departments that provide the best service to the community as possible.
Officer Faust is the second full-time police officer for the city of Van Meter. He is currently serving as the department’s Defensive Tactics instructor. He is a decorated former member of the United States Army.
Reserve Police Officers
Captain Peterson currently serves as the liaison for the Reserve Officer Program and Chief of Emergency Medical Services. Captain Peterson is certified to instruct ASP Baton/Handcuff and is a Certified Protection Officer. He has extensive experience in dignitary protective services.
Officer Boswell is the departmental CPR and AED instructor. He is MCSAP certified and instructs at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy reference hazardous materials and commercial driver’s license laws.
Officer Reisetter serves as the departmental Tactical Weapons Expert due to his extensive US Army service. He is responsible for maintaining and equipping departmental weapons. Officer Reisetter attends Law School at Drake University.
Officer Greer is a former member of the US Army Infantry. He is working on his EMT certification.
